"The Hulbert Family 1305-, With the ancestry of Walter
Hulbard , Thomas Hulbert,
William Hulbert And their connection
with early emigrants to the New World", is used as a reference to link
Thomas and William together. It was written by Henry Carlton Hulbert, who
is listed in the Hurlbut Genealogy (1888) by HHH on page 248. The
manuscript was copied from microfilm in Salt Lake City by Arthur Hurlburt
of Davenport, Iowa.

The Hurlbut/Hulbert Genealogy that traces ancestors
back to England has been brought into question due to association with
a known forger of genealogical records.
The article "FRAUDULENT LINEAGES" at America's First Families site
http://www.linkline.com/personal/xymox/fraud/fraud.htm
includes the genealogy in a list of 109 cataloged
under the name of Gustave Anjou or variants. Anjou produced genealogies
for wealthy clients that typically showed connections between multiple
immigrants to New England and included invented documents to support the
connections.
So it may be fair to assume that while there were
Hulberts in southern England, we must be uncertain whether Thomas and William
Hurlbut are connected to them or whether they came from that area.
