[98461] Oregon Folks [from The Oregon Journal, 24 January, 1933, page 8] Dr. Joseph M. Short of Portland was born at Elora, Canada, in 1871. Dr. Short is one of a fa y at Detroit, Mich., in 1896. In 1900 he located at Gresham, Or., where he moved to Mount Ta y Dorothea, a graduate of Mills college, who is employed in the Portland public library; Kath According to his oldest child, Dorothea: “During the late 1890s, Short had been a ‘company d d men. SHORT, M.D. [as of 1928] For over thirty years Dr. Joseph M. Short, of Portland, has been engaged in the practice of m , on the Grand river, Canada, in 1871, and is a son of William and Mary (Faulkner) Short. Th n thirteen children, John, James, William, Mary, Sarah, Robert, Joseph M., Ralph, Jane, Faulk Joseph M. Short received his early education in the public schools of Canada and during his s nada, and completed his course at the Detroit College of Medicine and Surgery, Detroit, Michi ms at Solon Springs, Wisconsin, where he remained three and a half years, and in 1900 located In 1912 Dr. Short came to Portland, where he has been engaged in the general practice of medi d methods in both medical practice and surgery, and he enjoys a large practice. He recalls s y called upon to make long and tiresome trips into remote parts of the forests. When startin d sometimes with horses and buggy, sometimes horseback and sometimes with neither. This was in Dr. Short was united in marriage to Miss Sarah A. Dr. Short came to Oregon in 1900, and practiced at Gresham until 1912 when he moved to Portla tute in 1890; Trinity University, Toronto, 1894, and Detroit College of Medicine, now Wayne u Besides his wife he leaves three daughters, Mary Dorothea and Ruth Elizabeth Short and Mrs. H ; Ralph, Robert and Miss Tannie Short and Louise Stickney of Elora.
